APT Rehabilitation Trainers

A Total Workout for Arms and Legs

Rehabilitation at Home

The APT is a unique rehabilitation trainer that combines both active, passive and passive assist exercise in the comfort of your own home.  The beauty of these devices is that they are small and can be used while seated in a chair, while in bed or a wheelchair. The trainers offer a lot of features that make them suited for a wide range of movement rehabilitation, including improving strength, stamina and fitness. The APT trainers only weigh 22 lb/10 kg and can be stowed in a closet when not being used.

Rehabilitation can be a slow process that requires a little motivation to help reach goals. The new APT trainer has an app that can be used to set goals, measure progress and can even be used as a game. The Grow and Tell App will also have the capability of sending progress reports to your healthcare provider.

Many patients have reported making progress in different areas, depending on their goals, including:

  • Increasing stamina
  • Balance and walking issues
  • Walking capabilities and endurance
  • Motor cognitive functions
  • Reducing spasms
  • Leg Muscle strengthening
  • Cardiovascular exercising
  • Range of motion
  • Blood circulation
What is an APT Trainer?

The name comes from the two important features that the device offers: ACTIVE and PASSIVE training.

For decades, the APT Trainer has been a favorite tool for MS rehabilitation activity. The device, recommended by many doctors and physiotherapists around the world, has shown to improve and alleviate the condition of MS patients who operate it. Numerous clinical studies have shown that exercise with products like the APT Trainer offers improvements to multiple sclerosis patients.

The APT Trainer carries the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) registration as well as European Certification (EC). The powered exerciser is a Class One Device and you may qualify for insurance reimbursement. Contact your insurance company to find out.

How does the APT work?

The APT combines both ACTIVE and PASSIVE exercise by using your physical efforts in conjunction with the electrical operation of the device. The APT Trainer helps passive users recovering from injury, suffering from muscle atrophy or confined to a wheelchair maintain muscle tone and improves blood circulation and stamina. The APT Trainer also challenges active users and is extremely helpful for movement rehabilitation, improving strength, stamina and fitness. The device is designed to enable you to get a total workout for arms and legs.

The APT Trainer is equipped with a unique built-in anti-spasm system. If you are cycling with your hands or feet on your own power (active mode) or through the trainer’s power  (passive mode), if your muscles go into spasm, the device stops and switches the direction of movement to release your muscle.

The device also has a built-in passive assist system that encourages improvement and muscle building even in the passive mode. In this mode, you do not have to pedal, the device will rotate your hands or legs to help you build muscles.

The APT Trainer can be used as a standalone trainer or in conjunction with the Grow & Tell App. The app connects your trainer with your smart TV, tablet, computer or smartphone and helps you monitor your progress and encourage you to push yourself to a higher level.

You set your goals and the level of resistance you want and the app takes you on your virtual trip. You can either follow your progress with dials and numbers or use one of the available games to challenge you and push you to achieve your goals.

The APT app records your activity on the trainer and is useful in following your progress or sharing it with a your physician or physiotherapist.

While the Grow & Tell APP is still in development, your current APT device can be outfitted with a transmitter to enable you to take advantage of the soon to be released app.

    What Users Are Saying

I am a nurse at an old age home. In our physiotherapy room we have an APT. I can tell you that this machine is always in great demand by our residents.

My husband is recovering from a deadly bacterium that he contracted. One of the key elements that contributed to his recovery was his daily use of the APT.

I got my APT nearly a year ago. I find it invaluable for my CP. I find that using it for around 30 minutes a day, improves both my physical and mental condition.

My son has CP. He loves using the APT and it has become a game for him. His preferred mode is Passive-Assist, he tries to outride the rotation of the APT.

To help me deal with my Type II diabetes, my doctor recommended resistance exercising 2 to 3 times a week for 30 – 60 minutes. Based on his recommendation I purchased an APT.

I have adapted using the APT as part of my living with Type 2 Diabetes. I use it nearly every day for at least 20 minutes. I start with Passive Mode to warm up my muscles and then more on to Active Mode.
