Dealing with Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic disease of the nervous system in which the insulating covers of nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord are damaged. This damage disrupts the ability of parts of the nervous system to transmit signals, resulting in symptoms including walking difficulties, dizziness, muscular dystrophy, visual impairment, impaired motor activity, sensory impairment, fatigue and mental impairment.

You may have suspected you had MS or the diagnosis may have come out of the nowhere. At any rate, getting the news means a adapting to a new lifestyle.  While there is no known cure for multiple sclerosis at this time, physical therapy can help with your ability to function. Exercise should be considered as a safe and effective means of rehabilitation in MS patients. Existing evidence shows that a supervised and individualized exercise program may improve fitness, functional capacity and quality of life as well as modifiable impairments in MS patients.

A program of exercise/physiotherapy can be an important part of healthy living with MS.  People living with MS have found that therapy can improve quality of life issues that they might be experiencing, including:

  • Stamina
  • Spasms
  • Balance and walking issues
  • Blood circulation

Many people choose to continue their exercises at home with a trainer, such as an APT Trainer.

Aerobic training recommendation*, perform 2-5 days per week**
  1. Start with five minutes of low-intensity cycling.
  2. Cycle for 10 minutes, at light to moderate intensity (11-13 on the Borg RPE***).
  3. Finish with five minutes of low-intensity cycling.*Please consult your physician or physical therapist before training.

**Special consideration
It is preferable not to perform aerobic and resistance training on the same day.
Individuals with high heat sensitivity should exercise in a cool environment.

What Users With Multiple Sclerosis Are Saying

All I have to say is that the day I got diagnosed with multiple sclerosis was the worst day of my life. The day I found the APT-1 from Tzora was the best. Thank you for changing my life for the better.

My teenage son is obsessed with his body. He wants to look like the athletes from the movies with big muscles. Sadly, due to his MS, the gyms in the area are not willing to let him exercise there. This is why we purchased the APT-1 from Tzora and built a pull up area. Between the two of them he is making great progress!

My wife had serious issues with her spasms, it was not only affecting her physically but also emotionally, It really took a great toll on her confidence. I have observed serious improvement since she started using Tzora’s APT-1. The anti-spam mode reverses the direction of the spinner every time she locks up. It really is changing her life.

Before my husband started his daily therapy on the APT-1 that we purchased from Tzora, he had real trouble holding his balance. He was constantly wobbling and holding onto things. Four months later, he seems stable on his feet and confident when walking. Thank you Tzora.

My main goal when purchasing the APT-1 from Tzora was to work on the balance problems I have due to my MS. The personalized leg therapy I do with the APT to strengthen my leg muscles has done a great deal to improve my leg muscle and increase my balance.

The worst part of having MS is the spasms. For me, they always come during the worst times when I am holding a cup of coffee or trying to write a letter. The anti-spasm mode on the APT-1 is really helping me with this issue and I already feel that my spasms are decreasing on a weekly basis.

All my life I opposed indoor exercising. I thought if I want to exercise, I would do it outside in the fresh air. All that changed when my vision started to blur because of my MS. The APT-1 was the best way to work on my stamina as well as to decrease my spasms with their anti-spasm mode. I am truly grateful.

When my wife was diagnosed with MS I made it my life mission to improve the quality of her life and enhance her rehabilitation. After a lot of research and reading I decided the way to do so was with the APT-1 from Tzora. I made one call and a couple days later the APT-1 was on our doorstep. Incredible service and very fast delivery.

I always enjoyed sports especially rowing, until I was diagnosed with MS, then I found myself very fatigued when exercising. The APT-1 from Tzora gave me satisfaction again to be able to exercise from my own home. It was the closest thing to rowing that I could find. I sit in front of the TV and play a video of the front of a kayak. Thank you Tzora.

I am afraid of needles…always have been, always will be. For reasons like this, I avoid hospitals which is why my MS was diagnosed so much later. It all started with blurred vision and moved on to fatigue. Tzora offered me the option to rehabilitate from my own home with their APT-1. It is so great and the app lets me track my progress.

My younger brother was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, for some reason none of us understood why he opposes going to therapy, which is why I bought him his own APT. Now he can do therapy from home. I was impressed by how fast I started seeing progress in him and for that I am truly grateful to Tzora.

When my son was diagnosed with MS it felt like the entire family was diagnosed with MS. I heard about the APT from a doctor friend so I called Tzora and they were so understanding and supportive. I am truly thankful.

The hardest part of exercising is starting, but once you start it becomes easier. That’s why the APT from Tzora gives such flexibility. I started by doing 10 minutes a day from my house in order to treat my MS. It was a great starting point and led me on to a much healthier lifestyle.

My husband went into extreme depression when he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, he did not manage to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Getting him out of bed was a daily challenge for me and the rest of the family. The APT was the first step towards his therapy. Once he started using it a couple times a week we incorporated more exercises and eventually got a physical therapist to come every week.

Multiple Sclerosis targets different people in different ways, my experience with it is extreme fatigue. I find it extremely challenging to go out and exercise due to my fatigue which is why the APT-1 from Tzora was perfect for me, since I could exercise a couple times a day for 10 minutes at a time from home.

My teenage son was diagnosed with MS at the age of 14. He is a boy who finds more joy in movies and books than exercise, which is critical to the rehabilitation of MS. The APT-1 from Tzora gave us an alternative way to target this by giving us the flexibility of letting him exercise from the living room while watching TV thank you Tzora

I am so happy I bought the APT for my father who has been suffering from MS for years. He can finally do his physical therapy from home and does not need for it to be such a hassle to do his daily exercises.

My aunt has MS and we have been trying to help her walk and go back to normal as doctors say the only way to improve it is to do constant physical therapy and work from home. She moved in with us when she just could not take care of herself and I was determined to find any way possible to help her. I found the APT online and read a lot about it, looked for references and people who had similar issues and how it helped them. After months of thinking and research I finally decided to make the purchase and I am so glad I did. My aunt is showing progress and can use the APT in the comfort of our home without the need to leave and be treated by a stranger. Thank you Tzora for your amazing help and patience.

I purchased a APT due to my MS. I’ve got bad circulation in my lower limbs which in turn causes cramps and painful swollen ankles. I use the trainer almost every morning to relieve these symptoms. I think this machine would be suitable for anyone with a disability.

After using the APT for just a couple of months my legs are much looser. I go on the trainer three times a day for 20 minutes and have noticed a real improvement. I began passively but can now cycle myself (active).

I came down with Multiple Sclerosis many years ago and have been using the APT for the last five years. It has definitely reduced the decline in muscle performance in my legs and arms.

Because of the lack of movement owing to MS, I had been suffering from Lymphedema. I am delighted to say my legs have responded and the therapist believes that daily use of my “bike” is keeping problems at bay.

I’d like to recommend the APT trainer to everybody. Don’t be afraid of pain, if spasms occur the APT will stop pedaling and eases the pain by changing the direction again and again until your muscles have relaxed, and you can go on cycling. It is a wonderful product!

My MS was diagnosed 25 years ago. I first saw an APT at the clinic and was sure I could benefit from using it at home. I use the one I bought every day to increase stamina, strengthen my legs and improve blood circulation. I recommend APT for anyone who requires weight bearing Active or Passive training using either arms or legs.
